Spider helps local hospital
The Odiham & North Warnborough Bowling Club have supported its local cottage hospital since the club was formed in 1985 and it remains our chosen charity. At the start of each home friendly match the players of the home and visiting teams stand around the edge of the green and bowl a single wood to reach a large black spider placed in the centre of the green. A voluntary donation for the hospital is made by each player and the player with the nearest wood to the spider wins a bottle of wine.
During the last year, John May a member of our club, was honoured by being elected as President of the Farnham and District Bowling Association and the cottage hospital was his chosen charity for their fund raising activities during his year of office.

Daphne Bolton, Odiham Cottage Hospital Charitable Trust's Chairman said "I am delighted to accept the donation as it once again confirms the community's support of its local hospital. This gift comes at a very important time, as the hospital has just been granted planning permission to build a rehabilitation centre and discussions with local NHS management for the use of this facility are ongoing. With the hospital's centenary next year [2010], there is much cause for celebration."
